The modern, traditional Viennese restaurant

Salonplafond

Welcome!

The Salonplafond, located in the Museum of Applied Arts on the famous Ringstrasse, is the modern interpretation of the traditional Viennese restaurant. The unique guest room designed by the well-known Viennese architect Michael Embacher, as well as the hidden patio garden with outside bar and sun loungers in the large lawn, are a jewel in the heart of Vienna.

The kitchen style is marked by the passion for cooking and fresh, seasonal and local food.

Clear and unembellished, reduced to the essentials – the taste!
Mostly everything is self-made or purchased by small local manufactories.

Salonplafond, a restaurant which gives you a feeling of the skilful blend of tradition and modernity and provides a pleasant stay.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Our friends

The fantastic work of Michael E.

The design and interior of the restaurant are influenced by our architect Michael Embacher. Our comfortable atmosphere is oriented on the traditional Viennese tavern style with a certain twist.
The Salonplafond is directly and barrier-free connected to the Design-Shop of the Museum of Applied Arts.
The Design

Our menus – always true works of art!

For more than half a century Nicholas Treadwell (*1937) – the famous british excentric and influential London gallerist – has been collecting art that is based on the theme of human experience and everyday life exaggerated. Being an Icon himself he created his unique pink universe full of art, peace, love and loughter wherever he went from London via Bradford to Aigen Schlägl and finally Vienna.

A selection of sculptures – a special interest of Mr.Treadwell – from this unique and truly outstanding collection of more than 650 works are now shown at the Salonplafond including works by artists such as: Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Kevin Harrison, Robert Knight, Saskia de Boer and Kevin Harlow.
